The road to the USClub National championship, for the Quickstrike FC 96 girls began in late May 2010 with a gusty 2-1 victory against the Massachusetts Premier Soccer Renegades to capture the USClub Regional championship. It came down to the last game of the spring season, under the lights, at Mt. Airy, in the rain against Bergenfield. The Quickstrike U14 boys needed at least a draw to clinch the Northern Counties Soccer Association title. Each year teams spend weeks and months preparing for their chance to be crowned state cup champions. The ’94 Girls made their first run at the state cup title in 2008 as an underdog and came out on top defeating the defending state cup champions Albertson Fury. In 2009 Quickstrike was the defending champions, but after a disappointing quarterfinal loss against East Meadow, the girls were put back in the underdog position. Our teams have prepared for the state cup for months and have worked very hard to get to that point. The PDA Girls College Showcase is a premier elite tournament ranked in the top 5 in the country. 138 teams in 15 flights compete to win their group. The format is different because it is a college showcase, so there are not playoffs. The teams compete within their grouping and win by finishing first in their group. The 2010 National Cup IX Regional in Lagrangeville, N.Y., is one of 11 National Cup IX Regionals open to U-11 through U-18/19 teams as part of US Club Soccer's national championship competition.
